We are a small group of Baldons residents who think that our small Oxfordshire villages deserve to have their stories told. Our work so far has built on a Local History Project conducted in 2001, which led to an exhibition in St Peter's Church, Marsh Baldon.
We are not putting any constraints on what we define as "history". We are interested in everything from the palaeolithic handaxe (at least 190,000 years old) found in Marsh Baldon, to photographs of a cricket match on the village green in 1998. And we include the mundane, for example a quarrel between two neighbours in 1870, as well as tragic events such as the RAF Air Crash in Little Baldon in 1965. Our sources have been many and diverse, including parish and official records, photographic collections, newspaper archives, academic papers, institutional archives and oral histories.
