There have been two pubs in the Baldons for at least 220 years, probably longer, and a third for a rather shorter time. Records show that, even before the pubs were recognised by name, in 1762 for example, there were four registered victuallers (sellers of ales and liquors) licensed in the Baldons. It is possible that at least two of these were selling from the pubs we now know.
