The Crown Inn, Toot Baldon, c.1899
The first mention that we have found of The Crown Inn occurs in 1801. As with The Seven Stars, it also was sometimes used for auctions and for inquests. It closed its doors as The Crown in 2001/2 and after substantial renovation and extension, re-opened as The Mole in December 2003. It is thought that the man in the carriage, above, probably is landlord William Pitson.
